Tra poche ore si chiude il decennio 2010 – 2019 che tante soddisfazioni ha regalato al biathlon italiano tra vittorie, medaglie e alla fine anche la Coppa del Mondo, grazie al successo ottenuto da Dorothea Wierer nella passata stagione.
Senza dubbio la detentrice della Coppa del Mondo, nonché prima italiana a vincere un oro mondiale, è il personaggio del decennio del biathlon azzurro, avendo contribuito a 51 degli 86 podi conquistati dall’Italia in questo periodo. Non passa inosservato poi il fatto che la stragrande maggioranza dei podi e delle vittorie siano arrivate proprio nella seconda parte del decennio, segno di un’Italia che si affaccia al 2020 con grandi prospettive, pensando anche ai Giochi del 2026. Dorothea Wierer non parteciperà probabilmente (anzi, da quanto dichiara, possiamo darlo per certo) a Milano-Cortina, però ci sarà Lisa Vittozzi e dai giovani stanno arrivando risultati interessanti.
Sicuramente non va tralasciato il fatto che nel quartetto misto italiano giunto terzo a Kontiolahti nel 2010, primo podio azzurro nel decennio, era presente anche Lukas Hofer, altro atleta che ha contribuito a portare in alto l’Italia per tutti gli ultimi dieci anni. Poi non passano inosservati i successi di Windisch e Vittozzi nelle ultime stagioni, ma anche il bel contributo dato da Christian De Lorenzi, Karin Oberhofer e tanti altri protagonisti italiani.
